From the smallholder farmers of the Sidama Zone within the Sidama Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (SCFCU) founded in 2001. SCFCU represents 51 of the coffee-producing cooperatives located throughout the Sidama Zone of southern Ethiopia which’s approximately 76,000 small-scale farmer families. SCFCU is the second-largest Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union in Ethiopia. Coffee produced from SCFCU is shade-grown in low densities under the canopies of the indigenous trees and enset (and Ethiopian banana). Stretching across the mountains of Bensa to the valley of Dale and Aleta Wendo. Washed coffee from the Sidama zone has pronounced acidity with fruit flavors( from red fruits, blueberries) to lemon flavors and aromas. A medium body and a bitter cocoa finish. The Sidamo natural process ( unwashed) provides a tasting profile of fruit flavors, low acidity with a rich full body.
