The Colgate Charcoal Bamboo Toothbrush is good for you and good for the environment. The natural toothbrush handle is made from 100% natural, sustainably grown bamboo, and because it’s from Colgate, you know it’s been tested to meet our high standards. Because of this feature, you can use the handle to add to your compost, add to the tree branches on the curbside, or even bury the handle in your yard. However, please do not recycle the toothbrush as recycling facilities do not collect natural material. This soft toothbrush features floss-tip soft bristles infused with charcoal to clean hard to reach areas for oral care you can be proud of.

*Reusing or Composting Your Bamboo Toothbrush Handle:
Your bamboo toothbrush is made of 100% natural bamboo and treated with natural beeswax, so dispose of the handle like you would any other piece of wood. Before disposing of your brush, first remove the bristles using pliers.* Remember that your bamboo toothbrush is a natural material, so it is NOT something recycling facilities collect. Please consider some of the suggestions on how to reuse or dispose of your bamboo toothbrush handle after you remove the bristles instead:
- Compost your bamboo handle using your typical composting process
- Place your toothbrush with your yard waste (eg. sticks and leaves) for curbside pickup
- Chop up your toothbrush to make mulch
- Bury your toothbrush in your yard
- Reuse in your garden as a plant marker
- Reuse to clean tight spaces
Removing Bristles:
To remove the bristles from your toothbrush, use pliers. We take Oral Health seriously and only want to offer you a toothbrush that stands up to our high quality standards. We have not yet identified a compostable fiber that stands up to our efficacy standards, but continue to look for solutions. In the meantime, you can recycle your bristles with the rest of your Oral Care waste using TerraCycle.
