6 foot water pipe freeze protection heating cable. Stops metal and rigid plastic pipes from freezing down to -40°F — built-in thermostat automatically turns heating on when pipe temperature is below 42.8° F (close to freezing) and turns heating off once pipe is warmed to 55.4° F (well above freezing). A single 6 foot heating cable is suitable for 6 foot to 8 foot long pipes that are 3/8 inches to 3/4 inches in diameter, or for 6 foot long pipes that are 1 to 1-1/2" in diameter.
NOTE: Use only for water filled plastic (including PEX) or metal pipes. Not for use with anything else, like empty water pipes, fuel lines, hoses, gutters, steam lines, and so on. Pre-assembled, easy to install using the included instructions.
Materials required (not included) are: aluminum foil (recommended for plastic pipe), fiberglass plumbing pipe insulation, fiberglass tape or similar with temperature rating 175° F or higher.
