Our Fava Beans are extra large, greenish-brown, oval-shaped dried beans. Fava Beans have a bold, earthy flavor and a meaty texture. Each bean is approximately 3/4 inch to 1 1/4 inch in size. Fava beans should be peeled before use to remove the translucent covering. Fava Beans are high in Vitamin A, Vitamin C, protein, fiber, potassium and iron.

To Prepare: Carefully sort and rinse. Soak beans overnight, then squeeze each bean to remove the outer skin. Rinse and place in a large pot, and cover with fresh water. Bring to a boil for 3 minutes, then reduce heat and simmer for about 2 hours, until beans are tender. Fava Beans produce foam when cooking, so skim the foam off the top of the water periodically.
