A variety of Calathea ornata, the Calathea ‘Beauty Star’ has elegantly shaped green leaves that are stripped in pink, white and silver. These leaves are longer and thinner than a traditional ornata. The underside of each leaf exhibits a deep purple. Native to tropical South and Central America, Africa, and the West Indies, Calathea Beauty Star thrives when kept in environments that mirror the humid tropics. Like most members of the Calathea family, Calathea Beauty Star has large leaves with unusual patterning, grows into a tall bush shape, and isn’t a fast grower.
