A variety of Calathea ornata, the Calathea ‘Beauty Star’ has elegantly shaped green leaves that are stripped in pink, white and silver. These leaves are longer and thinner than a traditional ornata. The underside of each leaf exhibits a deep purple. Native to tropical South and Central America, Africa, and the West Indies, Calathea Beauty Star thrives when kept in environments that mirror the humid tropics. Keep the plant consistently moist and mist regularly to boost the humidity. Like most members of the Calathea family, Calathea Beauty Star has large leaves with unusual patterning, grows into a tall bush shape, and isn’t a fast grower. At its tallest, a Calathea can be 3 feet tall and have very large leaves. Very similar appearance to Calathea ornata when young, as it matures, its leave elongate and develop a contrasting green underlayer with pink stripes over the top. > This species is not that difficult to care for. However, if you mistreat it for too long (stop watering, let it get cold), it will stop thriving and might even die.
