Its name is derived from the initials of the botanist who first described it, German botanist Dr. Hans Zami. The leaves on this plant grow can grow up to 6-8 inches long. The leaves are waxy smooth and dark green in color. The stems and leaves of this plant are thick, which is why it is often referred to as a "lazy man’s palm”. The ZZ Plant is known to be a slow growing live indoor plant. ZZ plants are mainly grown as ornamental plants, because of its easy care qualities and attractive foliage. The ZZ Plant has become increasingly popular as a live indoor plant in recent years because it is nearly impossible to kill. This hardy plant requires little sunlight and minimal water to maintain green and healthy.
