Fast Wasp Protection
Spectracide Wasp & Hornet Killer knocks down wasps, hornets, and yellow jackets fast, eliminating the nests where they live and breed. The jet spray offers a reach of up to 27 feet, allowing you to take care of stinging insects from a safe distance. The non-staining formula kills on contact and continues to kill insects returning to the nest over the next few days.
How It Works
Prallethrin, the active ingredient found in Spectracide Wasp & Hornet Killer, is a synthetic pyrethroid that works by disrupting the normal functioning of the nervous system of wasps, hornets, and yellow jackets.
The spray can take up to 24 hours. If you spray at dusk when wasps and hornets are most likely to be inactive and in the nest, you will most likely contact most of them and kill them immediately. The spray also offers residual killing, however, so you can expect to continue knocking down stragglers for several hours after treating.
Application Recommendations
Apply Spectracide Wasp & Hornet Killer at sunset when stinging insects are least active. Stand a safe distance from the nest; avoid standing directly underneath. If it’s windy while you’re spraying, stand with the wind at your back so the spray hits the intended target without drifting. Spray the nest itself until completely soaked, then wait for at least 24 hours before removing the nest.
Where to Use
In general, you can spray this product around your ornamentals, although you should avoid using this particular formula around evergreen and holly. Do not spray Spectracide Wasp & Hornet Killer around edibles growing in your garden, however.
Spectracide Wasp & Hornet Killer should not be used in or on electrical equipment because of the possibility of shock hazard. Spectracide offers alternative formulas that are safe for use near electrical wiring or panels, however, such as SpectracidePro Wasp & Hornet Killer or Spectracide Commercial Wasp & Hornet Killer.
