African Butterfly Iris (Fortnight Lily) produces yellow flowers with dark maroon markings which only last for one day but are quick to re-bloom. It will bloom more regularly when watering is frequent. This plant multiplies quickly and can be divided in the fall for replanting. When planting this Iris, dig the hole twice as wide as the pot and mix rich garden soil in with your native soil, then leave the top of the root balla half inch above the ground level when filling the hole with soil. Use a slow-release granular fertilizer in spring. Not guaranteed to be in bloom on arrival.
